Hi, I'm Ben — a therapist qualified in integrative counselling and the person behind Willow Vale. I set up this practice because I believe everyone deserves a genuinely warm, non-judgmental space to explore what's going on for them. As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) I undertook a rigorous education to ensure that I can offer a professional and informed approach to therapy.
I work with adults in a wide range of issues - anxiety, low mood, life transitions, relationship difficulties, trauma management, and more. My approach is primarily person-centred, meaning I follow your lead and work at a pace that feels right for you. This is the most common form of therapy around the world and for good reason. It's down to earth, focused on you as a client and works to help you uncover solutions. Studies show strong outcomes, including improving self-esteem, depression and anxiety. There's no single solution or "one-size-fits-all" approach. But what I offer is a safe, non-judgmental space where you can bring your story and explore the changes that matter most to you. Together, we can build a plan that moves you toward healing and hope, at your pace, in your own direction.
It's not just about a friendly conversation. We'll work together to identify what's working for you, what's holding you back, and how we can break through those barriers. Every journey is unique, and it's important that we take the time to find what resonates with you. Some people just need a space to share things that they've never told another soul. Others look for practical measures which they can implement day to day to make life a bit easier. These are the things that are personalised to you and that we discover as we journey through the process. I believe your therapy has a greater deal of success if we stay true to who you are throughout, never trying to fit you into a particular solution.
I understand that finding a starting point can be difficult. I've been there myself—questioning, "What do I need to change my life for the better?" After trying many different paths, I realised that my passion lies in helping people. Now, I'm dedicated to supporting people on their journey.
